Dr. L. David Richer is the founding podiatrist and foot surgeon at the Foot, Ankle & Leg Center.

Dr. Richer was born and raised in the Bay Area, California. He knew he wanted to be a doctor from an early age; his interests kindled and nurtured by his mentor, a family friend and ER physician. During his high school years, he suffered from frequent foot pain and began to develop an interest in the function and anatomy of the foot.

After completing his undergraduate studies at California State University, Chico with a major in Biology, he was accepted to Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine. After completing 4 years of medical training, he earned the degree of Doctor of Podiatric Medicine.

Dr. Richer completed a 3-year residency in foot and ankle surgery in New York City and Washington, D.C. His first year was spent rotating through various medical specialties, including Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Pediatrics, Plastic Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery and Neurosurgery. His last 2 years of residency focused on medical and surgical care of the foot, ankle and leg. He served as Chief Resident during his final year of training, which he completed in 2001.

Dr. Richer relocated to Scottsdale to join a group practice and join his family once his training was complete. He worked in group practice from 2001-2006 before founding the Foot, Ankle & Leg Center. He strives to provide exceptional care of the foot, ankle & leg in a friendly, comfortable and relaxed environment where we treat everyone like family.

His special areas of interest include heel pain, flat feet, foot and ankle pain, sports injuries, wounds and ulcers, and neuropathy.

Outside of the office, Dr. Richer enjoys traveling, paddle boarding, skiing, woodworking, and scuba diving. He also enjoys photography—mostly on land, but he’s been exploring with aerial drones and underwater shots as well.
